Angels peacefully carried Diane away to Heaven on Thursday morning February 18th, 2021. Diane, 73, passed away at St. Joseph’s Care Group Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario  Canada with her loving husband Boyd by her side following a lengthy illness. She was born on December 30, 1947 in Duluth, MN to Carole and Larry Kelley. She graduated from Duluth Denfeld in 1966.  She married the love of her life Boyd Howell on October 24th, 1986. Through the years Diane was a waitress, culinary worker, and had her own cleaning business.  She was a self motivator and had a very good sense of humor that always made you smile! She was wonderful with kids, they seemed to be drawn to her.  Gardening was one of her passions. Every summer she would plant lots of flowers along with a vegetable garden. She also was an avid birdwatcher and a true MN Vikings fan. Fishing and camping was another favorite, her and Boyd went on many fly in fishing trips in Quetico National Park, along with many camping expeditions. She also was an excellent cook! She was a very caring person that was a mother to many and will truly be missed. Nothing brought her more joy than exploring the Canadian countryside and many lakes with her husband Boyd.  She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years Boyd Howell, daughter Christine (Bob) Rodenwald, half sisters Kathy and Gloria, cousins, nieces, nephew, grand-nieces and grand- nephews,  and many dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law Felix and Gabriella Howell, her sisters Sharon, Rosemary, Patricia and half brother Randy. A private service will be held at a later date.
